Description

From the outstanding grand piano touch of the GH3X (Graded Hammer 3X) keyboard with escapement and synthetic ivory keytops to the intuitive design and integration with iPad, the Clavinova CVP-701 digital piano puts you in touch with your inner musician. At their heart, all Clavinovas are first and foremost a piano, and this has never been more true now that the CVP-701 includes Yamaha’s Real Grand Expression technology. A variety of interactive music entertainment, education and performance features make these digital pianos just as enjoyable for beginners as they are for advanced pianists. A color screen makes operation easy and intuitive. Guide Lamps show which keys to play for the novice, while on-screen notation puts music in front of more experienced players.

Features

Piano samples from two of the world’s finest grand pianos: the Yamaha CFX & Bösendorfer Imperial.

Two of the world’s finest concert grand pianos are at your fingertips. The Yamaha CFX is the finest 9-foot concert grand piano, selected and played by the winner of the 2010 International Chopin Piano Competition. The Imperial from Bösendorfer has been held in high esteem by pianists throughout the brand’s long history. These renowned pianos are characterized by their distinctive power, versatility, and subtlety.

GH3X (Graded Hammer 3X) Keyboard with Synthetic Ivory Keytops and escapement: True piano tone deserves true piano touch.

By using a similar hammer mechanism (with no springs) as is found in a grand piano, the GH3 keyboard action reproduces the touch of an acoustic instrument, from the heavier feel in the lower register to the lighter touch in the upper octaves. It also features a three-sensor configuration which accurately senses and interprets the behavior of the keyboard to create a response and feel very much like that of a grand piano.
The GH3X keyboard features an escapement mechanism that reproduces the feel of an acoustic piano as it goes through the let-off of the jack and the fall of the hammer when a key is played very softly.
Synthetic Ivory keytops reproduce the tactile surface of the Ivory keyboards once used in acoustic pianos. It features highly absorbent material that prevents fingers from slipping even after hours of performing, while retaining the ideal texture and feel.

Piano Room with Session Mode: The Clavinova is ready for your jam or recording session

The Piano Room has been expanded to include the world-class CFX and Bösendorfer Grand Pianos, as well as vintage Electric Pianos. In Session Mode, you can invite three additional session musicians into the room to accompany you as you practice and perform in 40 different musical styles. These session musicians will automatically follow your harmonies in either full-keyboard mode or split mode, and will also follow your volume expression. These session musicians can selectively be activated and deactivated depending upon your musical needs at the time. Within this special room, you can even record your sessions with the touch of a single button.

Follow Lights with Guide Mode: Now anyone can play a hit song, one light at a time.

The CVP is very patient: if you don’t play the right notes, it waits until you do! This is made possible with the CVP’s unique Guide feature. As the easiest way to play a song, the Follow Lights library teaches you popular melodies in a way only possible on a CVP Clavinova. Just follow the lights one note at a time, and fully-arranged orchestrations and arpeggios embellish your playing. Here, you don’t play along with a recording, the recording literally plays along with YOU. Visit www.yamahamusicsoft.com/followlights to browse the entire library today.

USB audio (WAV) recording/playback: Built-in piano recording studio. Record and share your music.

The USB to Device port allows you to connect your USB flash drive and use it as a built-in piano recording studio. You can store your performances directly on the USB flash drive as audio songs. These songs are stored in WAV format, so you can listen back using the keyboard’s on-board speaker system, or conveniently play them on a computer, transfer them to a portable media device or upload them to share with friends online.

You Are the Artist series (CVP): Let your CVP Clavinova help you learn to play hit songs.

Yamaha has partnered with music publishing giant Hal Leonard to prepare professionally arranged backing tracks to best-selling songbooks. Learn to play songs made popular by artists like Elton John, Taylor Swift, Adele and more. Simply purchase “You Are the Artist” series books wherever quality print music is sold, then download the song files at www.yamahamusicsoft.com/xg. Play with the pros – play Yamaha!

Accompaniment Styles: When you want to play more than just piano.

One of the defining features of a Clavinova are the hundreds of different Styles that can be controlled in real-time chords on the keyboard. Accompaniment Styles introduce ensembles of virtual musicians to your performances in a variety of musical genres. From small jazz ensembles to full orchestras, you control what chords or harmony they play based on what YOU play. Plus, you control the dynamic of the ensemble. Developed by professional session musicians from around the world, Styles let you recreate sound ranging from a small band to a full orchestra – even if you’re playing by yourself. You can use Styles to add embellishing Intros, Endings & Fill-Ins, and even arrange songs in real-time.

USA Edition v7.0: Exclusive content for American customers of CVP Clavinova

With content created exclusively for American Clavinova users, USA Edition turbo charges your CVP-700 series Clavinova with extra Voices, Styles, and over 1,000 Music Finder setups for specific songs so you can get playing quickly. New to USA Edition 7.0, are Style Guides which use the Score Display feature to show you when to press Intro and Variation buttons to get the most out of recreating some classic songs. There’s even a talking panel tour that tells you the function of each button on the panel!

Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM): For a sound that truly resonates with the listener.

In a grand piano, strings and sounds resonate throughout the entire body of the instrument to produce a rich reverberation that envelops the listener in sound. Not only are the strings vibrating as you play, but other strings ring as well, in reaction to ones you play. Some keys strike a different number of strings depending on their position on the keyboard; this explains why the sound of an acoustic piano is so complex and rich.

This experience is reproduced perfectly on select Clavinova models through Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) which calculates the various states of the strings for each of the 88 notes on the keyboard, from one instant to the next. As a result, the Clavinova sound features a seemingly limitless number of elements in common with an acoustic piano.

Music Finder: All you need to know is the song. The Clavinova does the rest.

Music Finder is great when you are looking for just the right Style or Voice combinations so YOU can perform a particular song. Simply choose the name of the song you want to play from the Music Finder list and the instrument will call up the proper settings so you can get playing right away. These settings were created by professional musicians from around the world specializing in particular genres of music.

Performance Assistant Technology (P.A.T.): Never hit a wrong note!

Performance Assistant Technology (P.A.T.) lets you focus on playing the rhythms while the instrument worries about playing the right notes of MIDI songs. Simply enable P.A.T., press play, and play along with the MIDI song and any note you hit will fit right in. Even a first time player will sound great. You can use this feature to practice rhythms without being distracted by bad sounding notes.
