French Harpist and Composer Isabelle Olivier is starting a new 2-year project, called “SMILE”. For our Fall Series at Pianoforte, she will welcome you into her composing, improvising and performing process.
This concert will be at the crossroad of classical, jazz, traditional, and world music, featuring pieces from various composers, as well as originals.
Isabelle Olivier is thrilled to perform Thursday October 22, 6:30 PM. She will share with you her warmest vibes, and welcoming spirit.
Seating will be limited to 25 guests for each concert.
Jazzwoman, Composer and Harpist with a strong musical personality and talent, Isabelle Olivier brings a wave of freshness and novelty to the international artistic world with her surprising and unique instrument.
She recorded 10 discs and a DVD of her personal work and traveled to 23 countries to present her musical creations. For 7 years she divides her time between France and the United States and leads her project with gusto and glee. As an Artistic Director she produced more than one thousand performances and master classes.
She developed a very recognizable style from the first notes of this fascinating and rare instrument.
Winner of the Prize from the Villa Le Nôtre at Versailles in 2015, she became the first musician and composer awarded by the foundation. In 2017, she is commissioned by the Art Institute of Chicago to compose and perform “In between Gauguin”.
