Yamaha CFX & Bösendorfer Imperial piano samples: Two of the world’s finest grand pianos
Two of the world’s finest concert grand pianos are at your fingertips. The Yamaha CFX is the finest 9-foot concert grand piano, selected and played by the winner of the 2010 International Chopin Piano Competition. The Imperial from Bösendorfer has been held in high esteem by pianists throughout the brand’s long history. These renowned pianos are characterized by their distinctive power, versatility, and subtlety.
Binaural CFX Sampling
Binaural sampling allows for an incredible sound to be heard through headphones. This is a highly sophisticated recording technique, in which a special combination of microphones are used: two microphones are actually installed into the ears of a model of a human head, so that the sound reproduced is from the pianist’s perspective.
NWX (Natural Wood X) keyboard with Synthetic Ebony & Ivory Keytops & escapement: Superb playability, texture and feel
Yamaha Natural Wood X (NWX) keyboards are created using our unrivaled woodworking expertise, acquired through more than a century of crafting fine acoustic pianos. The material used for NWX keyboards is cut from wood that has been carefully dried, and chosen specifically for use in making musical instruments. Only the best wood from the finest part of the tree is selected, resulting in a keyboard that is more resistant to buckling and warping than common laminated wood keyboards.
The NWX keyboard also features an escapement mechanism that reproduces the feel of an acoustic piano as it goes through the let-off and drop of the hammer when a key is played very softly. The action has been designed in such a way that the escapement is discernible only on the lightest keystrokes, similar to the keyboard of a grand piano.
Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM): For a sound that truly resonates with the listener
In a grand piano, strings and sounds resonate throughout the entire body of the instrument to produce a rich reverberation that envelops the listener in sound. Not only are the strings vibrating as you play, but other strings ring as well, in reaction to ones you play. Some keys strike a different number of strings depending on their position on the keyboard; this explains why the sound of an acoustic piano is so complex and rich.
This experience is reproduced perfectly on select Clavinova models through Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) which calculates the various states of the strings for each of the 88 notes on the keyboard, from one instant to the next. As a result, the Clavinova sound features a seemingly limitless number of elements in common with an acoustic piano.
Key-off Samples: The art of letting go.
The moment you lift your fingers from the keys of a grand piano, subtle changes occur in the instrument’s tone as the damper is lowered onto the strings to mute the sound. Key-off samples feature actual recordings of these changes, offering a faithful reproduction of the most subtle nuances in the piano’s tone to create a more realistic overall sound.
Bluetooth Audio: Turn your Clavinova into a wireless speaker!
Any Bluetooth-enabled device can connect to your Clavinova wirelessly so that you can listen to your music library through the high-quality speaker system of the piano. You can listen to MP3s from your smart phone, or even hear the sound from streaming videos through the Clavinova’s speaker system. Pairing your device with the Clavinova is quick and easy!
USB audio (WAV) recording/playback: Built-in piano recording studio. Record and share your music.
The USB to Device port allows you to connect your USB flash drive and use it as a built-in piano recording studio. You can store your performances directly on the USB flash drive as audio songs. These songs are stored in WAV format, so you can listen back using the keyboard’s on-board speaker system, or conveniently play them on a computer, transfer them to a portable media device or upload them to share with friends online.
Drum Rhythms: Groove along in performance or practice
Use the on-board drum rhythms for practice or performance. There’s a variety of rhythm patterns to choose, from basic rock to shuffle and swing beats. Use the rhythms to add an element of fun to your practicing, or simply use them as a virtual drummer for your performances.
16-track, 250 song recorder: A built-in recording studio
The recording function featured in Clavinova digital pianos allows you to record your performances with a single touch, which is useful when you want to review or archive your playing. You can record up to 16 tracks for simultaneous playback allowing you to create your own songs using different sounds, or record each hand separately. Store up to 250 of your songs internally.
* Recordings are made in MIDI format, and can also be recorded to USB flash memory. Compatible software is required for playback of recorded data on a computer.
USB TO HOST: Connect and interact with your instrument
A standard USB cable can be used to connect the instrument to a computer or mobile device, opening up a world of creativity, entertainment, and education. iOS devices can be connected to the instrument using the Yamaha UD-BT01, the i-UX1 connecter cable, or the Apple Camera Connection kit. The instrument can be used to interact as a controller and/or sound source with a variety of music creation applications.
Full Dot LCD Display (Size: 128 x 64 dots): User interface with LCD display
The new Full Dot LCD Display (128 x 64) adds luxury and ease of use to this generation of digital pianos. This interface gives the user the feedback they desire when making adjustments or selecting features of the instrument.
1/8″ AUX input: The auxilliary input allows you to combine audio from any source with your reface.
Use the speakers of your instrument to listen to the audio playback of your portable music player, iOS device, mixer, or computer via the 1/8″ AUX input. Simply connect the output of your device to the AUX line input and turn up the volume. You can use this feature to listen to your favorite tracks, or play along with them since your instrument will still function normally at the same time!
